Review of "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe

The Raven, by Edgar Allen Poe, is a dark and gloomy portrayal of a man and his sorrow.  I first heard it, oddly enough, on The Simpsons when it was part of a Hallowe'en episode.  You can see how people used to talk in those days because Poe uses such words as "quoth", "nepenthe" and "quaff".   These are probably real words but no one uses that kind of vocabulary today.

This poem is my personal favourite for several reasons:   1) I feel this poem was extremely well written and has a somewhat interesting topic.  It creates a very dark and mysterious atmosphere and mood and Poe has strategically injected elements of foreboding and alliteration.  2) I don't read that many poems but among the ones I have read, this one is the best.  3) This poem was featured on The Simpsons.  The Simpsons is my favourite T.V. show and, as I am obsessed with The Simpsons, I have to enjoy the poem.

In conclusion, I must say that this poem is the most interesting ones I've read and is one of the best poems ever written.
